Barbara John is a coordinator for building services with Residential Facilities. She’s worked in University Housing since 2001.

1. What brought you to the University of Arkansas?

I started working for University Housing in March of 2001. I worked for 5 years in Humphrey’s Hall as an ISA. I then became a coordinator for building services. Fifteen years and 8 months later, I’m still here.

2. Tell us a little about yourself – family? Pets?

Four-year-old Aiden, Barbara’s grandson.

I have always lived in Arkansas. I have a son, Matt; daughter-in-law, Leigh; a daughter, Maghen and son-in-law, Caleb. I have a 4-year-old grandson named Aiden, who brings me so much happiness.

I have a Yorkie named Kiko and a cat named Kenny Cat.

3. What are your hobbies?

I’m a huge St Louis Cardinal fan. I love baseball and enjoy going to the games or watching them on TV. I love spending time with my family and grandson.

4. Can you provide us with a random fact about you?

My mother, grandfather and two aunts worked and retired from University Housing.

5. Winter Break is coming soon. What are you most looking forward to for the holidays?

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I’m going to enjoy my time off shopping, being with family and maybe find a little time to relax. I will enjoy watching Aiden open his gifts.

It’s a wonderful feeling to see the happiness on a child’s face on Christmas day.
