The James C. Grimm: National Housing Training Institute has been an elite professional development opportunity for housing staff for over 25 years. The institute was designed to serve as a professional development experience for those who have between three and seven years of full-time experience and who aspire to continue their careers in housing.

This year we are excited to announce that our own Hannah Barney is one of the illustrious professionals accepted into the program!

Participants meet and interact with other colleagues, establish mentor relationships with experts in the field and develop professional development plans to meet the current and future needs of the housing profession.

Hannah joined the University Housing department in June 2016, working with our Greek transition housing, then in Pomfret Hall as the coordinator for residence education and now serves as our coordinator for student leadership with Lead Hogs, Residents’ Interhall Congress and National Residence Hall Honorary.

In June, Hannah will head to Fort Worth, Texas to join the 24 staff participants nationally and internationally accepted to participate and 16 faculty mentors.

EmmaLe Davis, director of student assessment, was the last University of Arkansas Housing professional to be accepted into the institute.

Summarizing her experience, EmmaLe said, “this was one of the best professional development experiences I have ever had. It was transformative in ways I could not imagine, helping me to develop as a professional.”

Way to go Hannah! We could not be more excited for you.
