A record five inches of rain hit Fayetteville Saturday, April 29. It caused flooding and Housing staff snapped to action to minimize damage to Walton Hall.

“The rain caused groundwater levels to rise to such a level behind Walton Hall, and the pressure caused it to seep through a wall penetration for chill water lines entering the mechanical room,” Jeff Vinger, director of Residential Facilities told a reporter for the Arkansas Traveler.

The leaking water covered the mechanical room floor and most of water made it to a floor drain, but some of the water seeped under the door to the adjoining Greek Affairs Office, Jeff said. Staff was notified and removed the water.

Damage on campus was minimal and was mitigated by the quick action of staff members.
