What brought you to the University of Arkansas?
My mom, dad and older brother all graduated from the University of Arkansas. So after I completed my bachelor’s degree at Arkansas Tech University, I knew where I wanted to go to get my master’s degree. I was excited to accept the coordinator for Residence Education position after I graduated with my masters in May 2017 because I loved living in Fayetteville and being a part of the Razorback community.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am from Jackson, Miss., and come from a large family. I have three biological siblings and three adopted siblings. I also have a beautiful niece and nephew who were both born in 2017. I am married and my husband, Alex, and I have a perfect cat named Mena. Alex and I enjoy hiking, attending concerts, spending time with friends and going on road trips.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy reading, painting, drawing, any kind of crafts and spending time with friends. Being outside is where I feel happiest and most myself; there’s nothing like jumping into a cold river after going on a long, hot hike! Some of my favorite shows include Game of Thrones, Parks and Rec. and The Office.
Can you provide us with a random fact about you?
Although I claim Mississippi as my “home” and my family still lives there, I was born in Fayetteville in what is now the VA Hospital. So it feels a bit like I’ve come circle now that I work and live less than five minutes from where I was born!
What do you enjoy most about working for University Housing?
My favorite part of working for University Housing is helping students learn and develop during their time at the university. I love working with Resident Assistants and student leaders and seeing how they grow in their roles, develop their professional skills, and serve their fellow students.
