The numbers are in and University Housing staff were very generous during the All in for Arkansas effort this past spring.

Nearly $1,000 was raised toward endowing the scholarship fund. This includes a number of one-time gifts and gifts given monthly.

“Nearly $1,000 for this fund is a great start for this first-ever event,” said Merin Macechko, associate director of annual giving.

Since the event, additional money has been pledged for the scholarship.

The total raised toward endowing the scholarship is currently $2,120.20, based on existing money and pledges.

The goal is to raise $25,000 for the fund so that it can be an endowed scholarship.

The University Housing Family Scholarship provides money to purchase textbooks for a dependent child, grandchild, niece or nephew of a current staff member who has been employed at least 3 consecutive years.

This eligibility for a dependent also applies to former Housing staff members with 20 or more years of service with Housing.

Money will be periodically distributed before the scholarship is endowed, said Flo Johnson, assistant vice chancellor for University Housing

“Thank you everyone. It’s a great start to ease the path toward higher education for our employees’ children,” she said.
